III.  RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

Brief Description of Activity

Internship Program

This SEU hosted three interns during this reporting period.  One intern from University of North Texas and one intern from CSB Connecticut School of Broadcasting shadowed the KDBN Promotion Director in activities including assembling prize packs, assembling materials for promotional events, and setting up and working promotional events.  One  intern from University of North Texas shadowed the KTCK Sports Director in activities including audio editing, assisting on-air personalities with show preparation and researching material for show content.

Management level training regarding EEO and preventing discrimination (2)

On April 4, 2008 and again on February 5, 2009, the CMP-Dallas Market Manager, Human Resources, Manager, and Business Manager attended a telephone training session presented by Cumulus' outside communications counsel on compliance with the FCC's EEO rules.

Host/event program for educational institution relating to careers in broadcasting

On April 18, 2008, the National Sales Manager for the Dallas SEU hosted a student from the University of Texas at Arlington for the day to shadow a manager in a media job.

Host Job Fair

On February 6, 2009, Station KTCK hosted a Job Fair at Ticket Stock, an annual station event, held at the Plano Convention Centre.  SEU participants included the Human Resources Manager, Director of Sales and Retail Sales Manager.  They provided information to attendees about careers in broadcasting and job opportunities within our local CMP Stations.

Participate in event/program sponsored by an educational institution relating to careers in broadcasting

On February 10, 2009, an Account Manager from Station KLIF spoke to the Junior and Senior students in the advertising class at Plano West Senior High School.  The speaker presented information about careers in broadcasting and discussed what it is like to be an account manager at a radio station.

Co-Sponsor Job Fair

On March 31, 2009, this SEU co-media sponsored the NAACP Centennial Celebration Diversity Job Fair with Fox TV in Dallas.  The Job Fair was held at the Richardson Convention Center in Richardson, Texas.  SEU participants included the Event Manager for KPLX and KLIF, the Program Director of KPLX, the Production Manager of KTCK and KDBN, the Program Director of KLIF, the Promotions Director of KTCK and KDBN and the Office Manager.  SEU participants provided information to attendees about careers in broadcasting and job opportunities within our local CMP Stations.
